On Friday night, the first game in the Div 1 Wemyss & District League was a home game against Kinglassie B.C. with the home Club hoping for a positive start in their quest for the Division 1 title. On rink 3, M.Comrie, K.Bunting, J.Cameron Jnr and D.Comrie (skip) were in total command from the outset, quickly establishing a lead they never relinquished and running out convincing winners by 23-6. On rink 5, P.Mctavish, Judd Clark, S.McFarlane and T.Young (skip) were involved in a bit of a see-saw the game but eventually lost by 12-19. On rink 4, it was a similar story with M.Dewar, B.Bell, T.Pettigrew and R.Crawford (skip) still level just past the halfway stage. However, when it came to the last end then they had to ensure they did not lose by any more than 3 shots, which they did, athough the final score was a defeat by 12-20. The overall result was a disappointing draw 4-4, with a big game coming up next week with a visit to Thornton B.C.. The good news is that there are several players who will be back for selection, although there will again be others missing. There was friendly home fixture played against Victoria B.C. on Saturday with a couple of players playing for the visitors, who were short of players. The overall result was a very friendly 54 -54 draw with wins for T.Young (18-9), J.Hay Snr (13-12), but defeats for J.Dewar (11-17) and J.Duff (12-16). The closing date for the Gents competitions is Sunday 19th May with the draw taking place on Monday 20th May. There is a sheet for names for members who want to be considered for selection in the Fife Top 10 competition. The draws for the Wemyss competitions are displayed on the Wemyss noticeboard.
